When I plan a vacation, the only thing I really plan is the destination and where we will be staying.

I prefer to keep things open to possibility.

Which isn’t to say I don’t have things I want to see and do – just that I have not ever, and I mean EVER, been okay with an itinerary.

Same goes with my daily schedule.

I have a rough outline of what I need to do on any given day, but I don’t have hard and fast time frames around any of it. Got any idea how that’s working out for me?

The answer is…not well.

My current approach to life is giving me maybe a 60% completion rating at the end of the day. And I wonder why business isn’t thriving.

Actually, I don’t. I know why. I’ve just been unwilling to change my behavior so that I am putting more effort and focus into my daily activities.

I’m great at keeping my kids on a schedule. And there was a time when I was great at being organized and keeping myself on one too. The truth is, I’ve gotten lazy…positively passive in my approach to daily life.

This is bothersome because I am not a passive person. Someone once said I was being passive aggressive and I laughed. I don’t even know how to be passive aggressive. If I’m anything, it’s aggressive aggressive (not said with pride…just the facts.)

How does a person with ambition and drive slowly turn into a someone who gets most of the things done in a single day? I don’t know. And I don’t want to take the time to figure that out – I just want to change it.

In an effort to turn the ship around, I’ve started scheduling times for everything. Keeping detailed lists of next steps on each project and limiting the amount of time I spend on social media.

But it’s, um, Day One. And while as of now, I can say so far so good, I’m only like six hours in.

So…got any tips to help me stick with it? Suggestions to get me back on the straight and narrow road of hustle? I’d appreciate anything you can offer, as I’m now actively pursuing the old me, wherever she’s run off to…
